Twila Ann Dodson

Twila Ann Dodson, 86, of Greenville, formerly of Stoneboro, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2021 at Avalon Springs in Mercer. Twila was born in Mercer on May 9, 1935 to the late Clyde and Hazel (Zahniser) Fox. She was a 1953 graduate of Mercer High School. Twila worked for many years as secretary for her husband’s trucking company and in her later years worked as a Wal-Mart cashier in Greenville.

Twila was married to her beloved husband, James E. Dodson on January 15, 1955, he preceded her in death. They were partners for life and did everything together. The greatest partnership was their faith in Jesus Christ. They served Christ faithfully through their various church families and Transport for Christ.

Twila enjoyed bowling, horse riding, gardening, and square dancing in her earlier years. She was also a Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant for many years. Most of all Twila loved her family and was very supportive of each one of them.

Left to cherish her memory is her son; Eric (Rhonda) Dodson of Xenia, OH, daughter; Donna Lisa (Scott) Boyd of Stoneboro, grandchildren; Jessica, Justin, Whitney, Drew, Rachel, and Rebecca, 10 great-grandchildren, sister; Donna Wilkins, sisters-in-law; Mary Fox and Doris Worley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Twila was preceded in death by her son; Bryan Dodson, son-in-law; Wayne Herrin, sister Doris Garrett, and brothers Robert and Harlow Fox.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, where family and friends are welcome from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Wednesday, December 29. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 11 am on December 30 with the Rev. Ben Zeigler officiating.

Interment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery.

I met the Dodson family when I worked for them in Kirtland, Ohio. Twila and Jim would mentor me both at work and spiritually. They were a very kind and gracious family. My deepest sympathy to the family.

I was blessed to take care of your mom at Avalon. She was a gem. I remember her when Randy would go into the Baptist church with Justin to Iwannas. She was always friendly at Wal-Mart. I also talked with her several times when I was visiting my gram at St. Paul's. She sure loved her kids & her Lord.

We met Twila and her family thru their faith in the Lord at Grace Baptist Church so many years ago. She stood next to me in the church choir and I so enjoyed that time spent with her. I can think of no better place to be for Christmas than to be standing in the Choir of the Angels in Heaven singing praises to Our King. God bless and comfort your family now and in the days to come.
