My sister told my of Phil's untimely passing and instaneously a vision of Phil popped into my head like it was yesterday. Something that I probably hadn't thought of in 40 years. Of him perhaps 5 years old pushing his little musical lawnmower up the path to our house. And then, I remembered him always saying "Phil needs that." My sister remembers him looking in the windows of our breezeway on many occasions when we were eating dinner. Those of our extended family so far that have contracted this disease have survived and Phil's passing reminds us we are lucky. I believe my nephew Benjamin, who became very sick recently, only survived because he was vaccinated (he was scheduled for a booster). His wife and 5-year old daughter also contracted, his wife becoming very sick. Remember getting boosted is important, immunity from vaccination is seriously down at 6 to 8 months with this horrible virus. It behaves in this manner because it was designed to do so. The vaccinated survive when they get sick. Many of the unvaccinated do not. The vaccine works, contrary to all the misinformation. All of you, please stay safe and please get vaccinated. And my family's condolences to yours for the waves of grief you must feel.

I met Phil while I was employed at Aptiv. I did not know him well, but did work with him on occasion and found him to be a private and contemplative man. Many with whom he worked appreciated his engineering expertise and he was often consulted to find solutions to the most difficult problems. I am very sorry for your loss.
