Martha E. Hamilton, 94 of Poole Road, Lake Township, Mercer, passed away on June 15, 2019 at the Grove Manor in Grove City. Martha was born on June 28, 1924 in Grove City to the late Paul and Estella Hogue Hamilton.
Martha was a 1942 graduate of New Brighton High School and went on to graduate from Geneva College, earning her Bachelor of Arts Degree, and Carnegie University, earning her Bachelor of Science Degree in Library Science. She worked as a Librarian in the New Brighton School System for 31 years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the PA State Education Assoc., PA Librarians Assoc., and the American Assoc. of School Librarians.
She was a member of the Jackson Center Presbyterian Church and served as a Deacon, sang in the choir, and was a part of the Women’s Association.
Martha was very interested in her Zahniser and Hamilton family history and genealogy, she treasured many family mementos from her grandparents.
Martha is survived by her cousins, the Amos Family.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents and brother.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Home of STONEBORO. Visiting hours will be from 10 am – 12 pm on Thursday, June 20, at the Jackson Center Presbyterian Church, 1198 Franklin Road, Jackson Center. A funeral service will follow visitation at 12 pm with the Reverend Charles Crane, Officiating.
Interment will be in Bethany Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in Martha’s name to the Jackson Center Presbyterian Church.
