Esther E. Gilliland

Esther E. Gilliland, 92 of Millcreek Twp, Sandy Lake, passed away on April 25, 2018 at the Sugarcreek Station in Sugarcreek, Venango County. Esther was born on November 9, 1925 in Sandy Lake to the late Herbert Rankin and Ida May McIntire Gilliland. She grew up on the family farm working very hard her entire life. She was a 1944 graduate of the Sandy Lake High School. Esther worked for many years on the family dairy farm, she also would help friends and family with housekeeping for many years. She loved quilting and made many beautiful creations over her 92 years. She also enjoyed putting together puzzles. Esther was of the protestant faith. Esther is survived by her nieces Judy Gilliland of Franklin, Barbara Carpenter of California, Donna McEntyre and husband Bill of Colorado, and Judy Mennor of Mercer, nephews Bill Gilliland and wife Jacki of California, and Buzz Monroe and wife Linda of Polk, several great nieces and nephews, several great great nieces and nephews and one great great great niece and two great great great nephews. In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her brothers Joseph, Boyd and wife Grace, Merle, and Oakley and wife Loma Gilliland, and sisters Eleanor McElhaney and Wilda Gilliland, nephew Everett Gilliland and great nephew Kenneth Gilliland. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin Street, where family and friends are welcome from 6 -8 pm on Friday, April 27. Additional visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 am until the time of the service at 11 on Saturday, April 28, with the Reverend Giles Bailey, pastor of Reynolds United Methodist Church, Officiating.
