Dear Mrs. Miller, Joy and Michael, Mr. Miller was a bright light and an inspiration to this world. His encouragement to students has carried well beyond their years at Thiel College. I see this first hand from my son, Brent. May his memories and love bring you peace and comfort.
With deepest sympathy, Julie

Ruth and family - Thea and I were so sorry to hear of your loss. David was an absolute joy to have as a colleague at Thiel and I treasure the time that I shared with him there. His support and encouragement to me when I was a junior faculty member kept me going when times were difficult. He was such an outstanding mentor - he never was unrealistic, but always "told it like it is."

On a lighter side - I have no difficulty calling up in my mind his infectious laughter. He had a way of brightening up my day. His sense of humor was abundantly evident during the times that we shared our amusement over "Faculty Meeting Bingo"!

He will be sorely missed by the so many whose lives he touched.

Ruth, Joy & Michael - Barb and I send our sympathies on your loss. Dave had such an impact on our lives and my career; we fondly look back on our time in Mercer which Dave made so very special for those two young Wisconsinites who ventured out to Western Pennsylvania. In Dave I found a font of wisdom, encouragement in abundance and good humor by the basketful. Bless you all in this sorrowful time. Bob & Barb Fuhrman

Dear Ruth and family,
You will, no doubt, feel the tremendous outpouring of love from all of those that Dave influenced. He was one of the most positive forces I've ever met. He loved loyally, fiercely, and compassionately. My career and life are informed by his. I send my love to you and hope you know that his life lives in the hearts of those of us who had the joy of knowing him.

Dear Ruth,

As John Donne famously wrote: "Any man's death diminishes me." And yet, so full of life and of the joy of life was Dave Miller that his absence among us feels impossible. As with all his friends, in their thousands, his presence enhanced my life and, above all things, taught me greater kindness. I'll always remember our dinners, Ruth. May the good Lord bless and keep you.

Love, Lynn
