Audley W. Olson

Audley W. Olson, 90 of Sandy Lake Twp, Stoneboro, passed away on November 8, 2020 at UPMC Jameson in New Castle. Audley was born in Transfer, PA, on July 20, 1930 to the late Fred and Mona (Gordon) Olson. He was a 1948 graduate of Stoneboro High School and then attended Slippery Rock University earning his Bachelor’s in Mathematics Education, then attended Penn State University, earning his Master’s in Education and School Administration. Mr. Olson was an educator at Lakeview High School for 44 years, serving as a math teacher, assistant principal, and principal. He continued working after his retirement as a substitute teacher until 2009 and was a past president for the Lakeview PTA. He was recently inducted into the Lakeview High School Alumni Hall of Fame in 2019. Audley proudly served his Country in the United States Army in the Army Medical Services Department during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Mr. Olson was an active attendee of the Lakeview Church of God where he served as treasurer, trustee, song leader, and Sunday school teacher for over 50 years. In his free time, Mr. Olson enjoyed gardening and raising chickens. Audley is survived by his beloved wife Anna Lou (Andrews) Olson, whom he married on June 11, 1966. He is also survived by his children Beth French and husband David of Anderson, IN, and Dean Olson and wife Statia of Jersey Shore, PA, grandchildren Allison Olson of Pittsburgh, Owen and Austin French of Anderson, IN, and Anna Olson of Jersey Shore, brother Ed Olson and wife Jane of Stoneboro, sister Hallie Lozowski and husband Jim of Thomasville, GA, as well as several brother-and-sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Olson was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Emmalynne Olson, and brother Donald Olson. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Home of STONEBORO, 99 Franklin Street, where family and friends are welcome Wednesday, November 11, from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Additional visitation will be Thursday, November 12, from 10-11 am at the Lakeview Church of God, a funeral service will follow at the church at 11 am with the Pastor Barry Markle, church pastor, and Rev. Dean Olson, officiating. All CDC guidelines will be adhered to. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
