Wayne A. Brocklehurst

Wayne A. Brocklehurst, Leeper, Pa, passed away peacefully at 5:42 PM, Monday, June 28, 2021 at the home of his daughter Sarah. He was 74. Born March 25, 1947 in Grove City, PA to Paul W. and Lois A. Henderson Brocklehurst. Wayne graduated in 1965 from Lakeview High School and then went into the US Navy in October 1966. He served on the USS Catamount LSD 17 until 1970 as a Machinist Mate 2nd Class. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam taking US Marines up the Mekong River often under enemy fire. He “rode that bucket til she was decommissioned in 1970 in Portland Oregon”. He returned home to Jackson Center and over the years worked at Cooper-Bessemer, Joy Mfg., Spang and Clinch-Tite Corp. and also operated his lawn service for many years. He enjoyed woodworking and fast cars over the years. Wayne was an avid outdoorsman and spent his last 22 years living in the Marienville area enjoying the solitude of the big woods. His joy in life included his daughters, his dogs, and his buddies. He will be missed by his beloved dog Toody. He is survived by five daughters: Martha (William) Lewis, Jenny (Clint) Baker, all Fredonia, Pa, Sarah (Justin) Yeagley, Mercer, Corri (Robert) Reagle, Sandy Lake and Christina (Brian) Schmidt, Stoneboro, also nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; two sisters; Sally Hoovler, Hadley, Pa, Donna Buckley, Colorado and a brother Paul (Aleta) Brocklehurst, Jr., Greenville, Pa. His parents, and three brothers: John, Robert and David preceded him in death. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, where family and friends are welcome on Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 2-4 & 6-8PM. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, July 2, 2021 at 11:00 AM. A private interment will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Jackson Center, Pa. where full military honors will be rendered by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard.
