Twila J. Markwell

Twila J. Markwell, 84 of Stoneboro, passed away on March 26, 2018 at St. Paul Homes in Greenville. Twila was born on Feb 26, 1934 to the late James McQuaid and Mary Gravatt McQuaid. She was a graduate of the Sandy Lake High School and worked for many years as a Direct Support Provider at Polk State Hospital. She married her beloved husband, Russell Markwell, on February 5, 1958, he preceded her in death on November 26, 2003. Twila loved to travel, especially to the ocean and spending time on the beach. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and adored her dog “Itty Bitty”. She loved watching birds as well as gardening. She adored flowers and had her own rose garden. She also enjoyed reading and collecting antiques. Twila is survived by her children, Susan McGee and husband James of Branson, Missouri, Dora Markwell and husband John Clough of Greenville, Michael Markwell of Pittsburgh, Patrick Markwell of Stoneboro, Mary Markwell and companion Ron Kerr of Sandy Lake, and Heather Hopkins and husband Jorge of Warren, OH, brother Thomas McQuaid of Sandy Lake, grandchildren Sam, Twila, Tephi, Ariel, James, and Jacob, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Twila was preceded in death by her brother James McQuaid, Jr., and sisters Mary Erickson and Linda Zimmer. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, where family and friends are welcome from 12-2 pm and 4-6 pm on Wednesday, March 28, and from 10 am until 11 am on Thursday, March 29. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home at 11 am on Thursday, March 29, with the Reverend Joseph Frank, Chaplain at Southern Care Hospice Services.
