Sherry A. James

Sherry A. James, 69 of New Lebanon Borough, Sandy Lake, passed away on June 10, 2019 at UPMC Presbyterian. Sherry was born on October 25, 1949 in Mercer to the late James Morton and Margaret Pizer Morton. She was a graduate of Lakeview High School. Following graduation she worked as secretary for Oakview Elementary, owned a home-based fabric business, waitressed at Grantham’s Landing, and served as Administrative Assistant at Sandy Lake Presbyterian Church. Sherry worked as a Financial Specialist at Mercer County State Bank for 26 years then before retiring in 2014. Sherry married her beloved husband, David James on June 7, 1969, recently celebrating 50 years together, who survives at home. Sherry was known for her high energy, giving spirit, sense of humor, and her work ethic. She would help with many community events such as the Backpack Program and Meals on Wheels. She was a longtime supporter of Lakeview Wrestling, an excellent cook and hostess. She also enjoyed traveling, especially to Disney World and the beach where she could be in the sun, swimming, or reading. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and community servant. Sherry decided to continue giving even after her death by becoming an organ donor through CORE, having already saved three lives. In addition to her husband, Sherry is survived by her children Shani (Tim) Eddy of Greenville, and Douglas James of Sandy Lake, grandchildren Laken Eddy of Los Angeles, and Tanner Eddy of Florida, siblings James Morton and Wendy Kellogg, both of Jackson Center, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Home of SANDY LAKE, 3236 S. Main Street, where family and friends are welcome from 4-8 pm on Thursday, June 13. Addition visitation will be from 10-11 am on Friday, June 14 at the Sandy Lake Presbyterian Church, 3461 Sandy Lake New Lebanon Rd. A funeral will follow visitation at 11 am with the Reverend Beth Creekpaum, church pastor, officiating. Interment at Oak Hill Cemetery will take place at a later date In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sandy Lake Presbyterian Church, or to the Lakeview Area Public Library, PO Box 622, Sandy Lake, PA.
