Ruby R. Purks

Ruby R. Purks, 94 of Stoneboro, passed away on June 2, 2021 at the Vincentian Home in Pittsburgh. Ruby was born in Ellamore, WV on March 1, 1927 to the late Roy F. and Edna V. (Tenney) Snyder. She attended school in Elkins, WV and then entered a career in the printing industry. She worked for 23 years at the Federal Lithograph on Washington D.C, retiring in 1989. She attended New Lebanon Community Church for many years and was deep in her faith. She enjoyed playing bingo and completing jigsaw puzzles, as well as crocheting. Ruby is survived by her children, Barbara “Susie” Wagner (David) of Hermitage, Bonnie Lou Rose (Dennis) of Baltimore, MD, Marvin Gatewood (Janey) of Jackson Center, and Willie Gatewood (Beverly) of Jackson Center, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Ruby was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles H. Purks and DeWitt Clinton Gatewood, longtime companion Raymond Barnes, daughter Carolyn Lewis, infant daughter Roxanne Gatewood, grandson Chuckie Lewis, and infant great-grandson Mitchell Reams, Jr. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc.
