Richard R. Trevitt

Richard R. Trevitt, Stoneboro, PA, Lake Twp., passed away peacefully at home on the farm after a period of declining health, on May 12, 2021. He was 96. Born on the family farm in Lake Twp. Mercer County, on November 23, 1924, he was the son of the late Ralph D. and Frances E. Boyd Trevitt. Richard was a 1943 graduate of the former Stoneboro High School. Richard was a lifelong farmer, he farmed for over 90 plus years. He remembered plowing with the horses in his early years of farming. He owned and operated Trevitt & Trevitt Dairy along with this brother, Walter and his father, Ralph. He was a member of the Clarks Mills United Methodist Church where in earlier years, he served as a Trustee. Richard was a member of the Jackson Grange, then New Vernon Grange, and the Pennsylvania Farmer’s Association. Richard had a passion for farming and loved spending time with his family. Early years he enjoyed hunting. Richard married his beloved wife, Betty Lou (Vath) Trevitt on February 15, 1975, she preceded him in death on March 27, 2016. He is survived by his Children, Beverly (Charles) Gallagher, of Mercer, Shirley (Jack) Yeager, of Sandy Lake, Frederick B. (Barbara) Elder, of Stoneboro and Daughter-in-Law, Patty Elder, of Clarks Mills; 9 Grandchildren and 19 Great-Grandchildren; and his sisters, Margaret Boyd, of Sandy Lake, Eleanor (Robert) Smith, of Grove City and Kathleen (John) Norville, of Maryland. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou, his son, Robert E. Elder, his sister, Helen Painter and his brother, Walter S. Trevitt. Memorial Contributions may be made to Clarks Mills United Methodist Church, 3813 Hadley Road, Clarks Mills, PA 16114. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, where family and friends are welcome from 4PM -7PM, Friday, May 14, 2021, and on Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 10AM-11AM.
