Mildred Brest Obituary

Mildred L. Brest, 75, of Perry Township, Hadley, passed away on August 11, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mildred was born in Pittsburgh on May 4, 1946 to the late Joseph G. and Mary C. (Palko) Fisher. She was a 1964 graduate of Commodore Perry High School. After graduation she worked as a housekeeper at the Colonial Inn Motel in Mercer for 6 years, then GTI in Hadley for 5 years, and even drove a semi-truck hauling whey for several years for Fairview Swiss Cheese. Most of all she enjoyed the time she spent working alongside her husband as a grain farmer in Perry Township for 32 years. Mildred married the late Franklin D. Brest on November 15, 1974, he preceded her in death on April 6, 2005. Mildred was of the protestant faith. She was a member of the Reynolds V.F.W., Greenville V.F.W., and Fraternal Order of Eagles of Greenville. In her free time, she enjoyed card making, she loved spending time with her cats, but her greatest joy came from the time she got to spend with her children and grandchildren. Mildred is survived by her children, Lorraine M. (Jerry) Roberts, of Sandy Lake, Catherine C. (Bruce) Rodgers, of Sandy Lake, 4 step-children; 4 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; her siblings, Mary (Don) Shawkey, of Sandy Lake, Rick Fisher, of Woodbridge, VA, Ernie Fisher, of Clarks Mills and Joe (Debbie) Fisher, of Herndon, VA, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband Mildred was preceded in death by a brother, George Fisher, and 2 step-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, where family and friends are welcome from 4 pm – 7 pm on Friday, August 13. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 14, at 11 am with the Rev. Virginia LaVan-Gadsby, officiating. Interment will take place at America’s Cemetery in Hermitage. In Lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to Stray Haven Animal Shelter, 94 Donation Road, Greenville, PA 16125.
