Margaret McKean Obituary

Margaret A. “Peggy” McKean, 84 of Lake Twp, Mercer, passed away on January 3, 2021 at Quality Life Services – Mercer. Peggy was born in Grove City on January 30, 1936 to the late John L. and Lulu (Armstrong) Woods. She was a graduate of Mercer High School. Peggy married her beloved husband, Robert E. McKean on June 24, 1955, he preceded her in death on December 17, 2007. Together Robert and Peggy ran their family farm, and owned and operated McKean’s Shurfine in Sandy Lake. She was always active in the family business and on the farm. In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, bowling in her earlier years, and shopping for her grandchildren. Peggy is survived by her sons; Gregory McKean and wife Peggy of Mercer, Alan McKean and wife Pamela of Catawba, OH, Kirke McKean and wife Melanie of Jeromesville, OH, and Guy McKean of Stoneboro, grandchildren; Cody, Marshall, and Rachel McKean, Tyler (Megan) and Katherine “Katie” McKean, Lucas (Allison), Brennan, and Megan McKean, and Taylor and Bryson McKean, great-grandchildren Murphy, Willa, and Carter, sisters Joan Brandt and Dorothy Rains, as well as several nieces and nephews. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband and parents. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Home of Stoneboro. Funeral arrangements will be private. Interment will take place in Carpenter Cemetery, Mercer, PA. Memorials may be made in Peggy’s name to the Lakeview Meals on Wheels, PO Box 548, Stoneboro, PA 16153, or to Lakeview United Methodist Church, PO Box 177, Sandy Lake, PA, 16145.
