Helen Firster Obituary

Helen R. Firster, 80 of Carlton, PA, passed away at home on December 30, 2020. Born on August 13, 1940 to the late Floyd A. Swogger and Alma M. (Spieker) Reagle. After graduating from Lakeview High School, she worked first and foremost as a homemaker raising her family in Cochranton, PA. Then she went on to work at Wendell August Forge, Andover Industries, and Tech Tool. Helen was a devoted, loving, and supportive mother, grandma (Gma), and Great-grandma. Always putting family first, she helped raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her earlier years, she was a Girl Scout Leader for the Junior troop #9, Cadet troop #49 and Senior troop. Along with being a dedicated Cross-Country Mom and Gma, she was a loyal friend who was willing to help out in any way she could. Her other hobbies included crocheting personalized blankets for her family, gardening, avid bird watching, taking care of her home, and proudly nurturing family donated kittens and cats. Helen is survived by her children, Denise Huffman (David) of Cochranton, PA, Keith Firster (Denise) of Martinez, GA, Becky Armburger (Kelley) of Shelby, NC, and Mark Firster (Lori) of Sadieville, KY. Grandchildren: Matthew Huffman (Ashly), Monica Bayly (Eric), Michelle Woodrow (Ryan), Christopher Firster, Zachary, Nichol, and Stephanie Bizjak, along with Isabel, Abigail, Madelyn, and Miles Firster. Great-Grandchildren: Cooper and Connor Huffman, Corey Bayly, and Morgan Woodrow. Also survived by her brother Raymond Swogger (Bonnie). In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her spouse, Harvey G. Firster. Brothers Ronnie and Walter Swogger, along with her mother’s other daughter. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin Street Stoneboro, PA where a private funeral will take place on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. Interment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery. At 5pm, an open house for family and friends will be held at 22744 County Line Road Cochranton, PA.
