Harry Grabb Obituary

Harry G. Grabb, 86 of Greenville, passed away at Sharon Regional Hospital on January 21, 2018. Born in Greenville on February 4, 1931 he was the son of Harry W. and Bessie M. Wheeler Grabb. He was a graduate of Penn High School in Greenville and went on to serve our Country in the United States Navy. During his time in the Navy, he traveled over 200,000 miles by water all over the seven seas. He served during the Korean Conflict. Harry was employed as a Township Road Foreman, and eventually Supervisor in Hempfield Township as well as a maintenance man for Penn State Shenango and a laborer for Universal Refractory. Harry loved woodworking, as well as making numerous things out of various types of wood and giving most of them away as gifts to his family and friends. He also enjoyed cooking, especially over an open fire as well as working with children. He also loved music and was a member of the Harmonica Aires with his wife. He played the saw and she played the piano and accordion at many local nursing homes. He married his beloved wife, Clara McCartney Grabb on June 30, 1955, she survives at home. In addition to his wife, Harry is survived by his son Buster Grabb and wife Lisa of Sheakleyville, Eilene Trump and husband Thomas of Greenville, one grandchild, J.C. Grabb of Greenville, three step-grandchildren, Amy McCurdy, Springfield, VA, Anson Bilyeu and wife Heather of Brooklyn, IA, and Maia Nendza and husband Robert of Sitka, AK, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his infant brother, John Grabb. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, where family and friends are welcome from 1 pm until 3:45 pm on Friday, January 26. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home at 4 pm with the Reverend Randy Ritchey, Pastor of the Oak Grove Church, officiating, following the service full military honors will be rendered by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard, Franklin, PA, in the funeral home. Interment will be in Stevenson Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Harry’s name to the Oak Grove Church, 16 Oak Grove Rd, Mercer, PA 16137.
