Gary N. "Ding" Lengauer

Gary N. "Ding" Lengauer, Sandy Lake, PA, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021 in the emergency room at UPMC Greenville after an extended illness. He was 78. Born July 12, 1943 in Grove City, he was a son of Norbert A. and Emaline M. McClearn Lengauer. Gary was a 1962 graduate of Lakeview High School where he was an outstanding player on the basketball team. In early years he worked at McKean's Golden Dawn of Sandy Lake, then worked at the Laubscher Cheese Company, Mercer for over thirty years, retiring in 2007. He attended Oak Grove Church, Mercer. He was a member of Lake Lodge #434 F & AM, Sandy Lake, New Castle Consistory, Zem Zem Shrine, Erie and the Mercer County Shrine Club. He was a social member of the Cpl. James O. Jordan Post 337, Greenville. Gary loved to play golf and had two holes-in-one over the years. He was an avid Steeler fan and loved playing bingo. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren Calvin and Bella. He and his wife, Mary Irene (McKean), were married June 5, 1965, she survives at home. Also surviving are daughter, Carrie J. (Will) Rose, two grandchildren: Calvin J. Gault and Bella R. Gault, all of Greenville, a step granddaughter Michaela C. Rose, Sandy Lake, a sister Norma Jean (Ralph) McClay, Meadville and a brother Michael J. (Peggy) Lengauer, Stoneboro. His parents, a sister Nancy Jane Lengauer, a brother Philip E. Lengauer, Sr. and a nephew Todd A. McClay preceded him in death. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Shriner's Hospitals for Children, 1645 W. 8th St., Erie, PA 16505 or Oak Grove Church, 10 Oak Grove Road, Mercer, PA 16137. Calling Hours 2 – 4 & 6 – 8pm, Friday (10-8-21) with a Masonic service at 8pm in Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro and 10 am until 10: 45 am, Saturday (10-9-21) at Oak Grove Church, 10 Oak Grove Road, Mercer, PA. Funeral Service: 11:00 am Saturday (10-9-21) in the church with Rev. Randy L. Ritchey, officiating. Interment: Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake Township. Family requests masks be worn for visitation and services.
