Carol Gillespie Obituary

Carol A. Kennedy Gillespie, 77 of Fort Myers, FL, passed away on November 2, 2018 at Cape Coral Hospital in Fort Myers. Carol was born in Meadville on December 13, 1940, to the late Thomas E. and Mildred M. Fletcher. She attended Commodore Perry High School and worked for many years at the Cochranton Co-Op. Carol married her beloved husband, Robert E. Gillespie, Sr., on July 5, 2003, he survives at home. Carol loved playing cards and traveling. She enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida with her husband. She loved to fish and catch perch on Lake Erie. Most of all she loved her family and spending time with them, especially spoiling her grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Carol is survived by her children Gail Kennedy, Gregg (Carolina) Kennedy, Don Kennedy, Sharon (Gary) Sturey, and Todd (David) Kennedy, step-children Robert E. (Angie) Gillespie, Jr., and Glenn A. Gillespie, grandchildren Amber Warren, Amanda & Josh Kral, Lucia & Paola Kennedy, Kelly Nahay, Molly Irwin, Jared Kennedy, Kyle Kennedy, Travis Surey, Tara Elbrecht, step-grandchildren Anthony & Ashley Gillespie, six great-grandchildren, siblings Sandra Adams & Terry Fletcher, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Carol was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, where family and friends are welcome from 4 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, November 8. A funeral service will follow visitation at 7 pm in the funeral home with the Reverend Justin Spurgin, pastor of Messiah Baptist Church, Franklin, officiating. Interment will take place in Mt. Hope Cemetery, New Vernon Twp. Memorials in Carol’s name may be made to the American Heart Association, Youngstown Office, 840 Southwestern Run, Youngstown, OH 44514.
