Carl Slaughenhoupt Obituary

Carl L. Slaughenhoupt, Sr, 76 of Greenville, passed away at UPMC Hamot on April 7, 2019. Carl was born in West Monterey, Clarion County, on November 26, 1942 to the late Emmett and Dorothy Clark Slaughenhoupt. He worked for many years as a Press Operator at Thomas & Betts, now Reznor in Mercer, retiring in 2005. Carl married his beloved wife, Linda A. Geiger Slaughenhoupt on April 11, 1964, she survives at home. Carl attended the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Hermitage and was very deep in his faith. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, often with his family members. He was also an animal lover, adoring his dog Abby. He will be remembered as a loving, giving, hardworking, and supportive provider for his beloved family. He would spend as much time as possible with his family, enjoying holiday meals and always excited for his food. He also enjoyed bluegrass music and was known to cut loose and dance to it. Carl also had very many close Amish friends he enjoyed transporting to jobs and helping run errands. In addition to his wife, Carl is survived by his children, Carl L. Slaughenhoupt, Jr, of Wyoming, Melisa Slaughenhoupt of Arizona, and William “Bill” Slaugenhoupt and wife Melissa of Fredonia, grandchildren Kevin, Brandon, Heather, Linda, Kenny, and Alisa, his adored great-grandchildren who referred to him as “Opa”, Cambria “Cami”, Hunter, Lizzie, Olivia, Ava, Kevin Jr., and Bella, brother Richard Clark and wife Maxine, sisters Kay Kingkerski, Sue Carlson, and Alice Aley and husband Lonnie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his brother, Leroy Slaughenhoupt, an infant grandson, Michael, and nephew Ricky Clark Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Home of STONEBORO, 99 Franklin Street, where family and friends are welcome from 4-8 pm on Wednesday, April 10. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, April 11, at 11 am with the Pastor Douglas Watson, pastor of Lighthouse Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Millbank Cemetery, Fredonia Memorials may be made in Carl’s name to Lighthouse Baptist Church, Hermitage. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Staff at UPMC Horizon-Greenville and UPMC Hamot as well as Life Force Ambulance for their care and compassion.
